Our RYA accredited sea school provides excellent professional training with friendly instructors, for sail training, power boating and motor cruising. All RYA courses for Sail, Motor and Power both practical and theory are available.
We can provide training on your own boat or on our sea school boats, a brand new Bavaria 38 Cruising Yacht, a 7.8m and 4.8m Ribcraft ribs, or on our Fairline Phantom 40' fly bridge motor cruiser, a Seadoo GTX155 for PWC courses, the choice is yours.
We offer a full range of shorebased theory courses to compliment the practical courses, from starter courses to more advanced levels of boating.
Dart Harbour Sea School is being increasingly used by a variety of different people for all sorts of things. Training on Super Yachts and for our Local River Authority Staff, camera crews are using our boats and skippers for filming and photo shots. Our Skippers are also being used for long haul delivery work.
Sailing, Motor Cruising or Powerboating in Devon, whichever, this coast has plenty to offer. From the beautiful scenery, to the fine restaurants of Dartmouth and Salcombe, there truly is something for everyone (Res Nova Floating Inn, New Angel Restaurant, Anzac Street Bistro and RB's in Dartmouth, to name but a few).
The Principal of Torbay Sea School is Neil Penman who has lived and worked in Torbay all his life. He started crewing motor cruisers and small yachts in the River Dart over 30 years ago. Consequently we have extensive knowledge of these cruising grounds and aim to share the beauty of the area with you.
Neil continued sailing as a hobby whilst serving in the Royal Navy and this and his previous experience with all types of boating allowed hime to start instructing full-time within the service. His final appointments in the navy were Chief Sail Instructor at the Royal Navy's Seamanship Training School near Plymouth and finally RYA Chief Instructor at The Royal Naval Officer Training College at Dartmouth. He is now a Yachtmaster Ocean, Yachtmaster Examiner in both Sail and Power and a Powerboat and PWC Trainer.
